At Waterstone Clinic, we are here to support you every step of the way. We understand that our patients’ journeys are unique, and so too are their needs. Most people don’t anticipate needing fertility treatment, and many find the process of fertility treatment stressful.

Waterstone Clinic offers many treatment options and our clinic team are there to guide and support patients through every step of their treatment. A professional counsellor can play a very important role in supporting individuals and couples through treatment, and wellness activities, such as mindfulness and relaxation activities, can be helpful to reduce any anxieties.

Wellness: 7 Day Meditation Programme

Mediation & Mindfulness

Working with MindfulIVF, we have created a 7 Day programme to help patients relaxing the mind and body while using scientifically proven techniques.

These short meditations (each about 20 minutes long) help to promote relaxation and improve sleep. They can be listened to at any time during the day, or last thing at night.

Counselling Support

What is counselling for?

Waterstone Clinic offers many treatment options to couples who may be experiencing fertility difficulties. Staff at the Clinic are available to guide and support patients through every step of their treatment, however, a professional counsellor plays an important role in facilitating and supporting individuals and couples through the stresses and emotions experienced.

Waterstone Clinic offers the counselling service free of charge and at any point (before, during or after) treatment.

Counselling is a requirement when undertaking treatment with donor gametes, or when donating.

What will be discussed?

The counselling session will be built around your needs. You may like to talk about:

  • How fertility treatment has affected you
  • Your treatment options and alternative choices: it can be helpful to discuss with a non-medical professional
  • Your feelings, for emotional support in your journey
  • The implications of having a baby using donor sperm, eggs or embryos

Relaxation Resources

Our counsellor, Marian, has put together some relaxation resources that you may find helpful before or during fertility treatment.

Breathing Exercise

A breathing exercise, such as this one, can help you relax because they make your body feel like it does when you are already relaxed. It is one of the best ways to lower stress in the body.

Grounding Exercise

Grounding is a practice that can help you pull away from negative or challenging emotions to refocus your mind on your present moment.

Worrying: Circle of Control

The Circle of Control exercise can help with worry. We can control a lot of different aspects of our lives, but not everything.
