Public IVF and Fertility Treatment
Waterstone Clinic is an approved centre providing HSE-funded fertility treatments.
To avail of the funding, you must contact your GP who can arrange a referral to your local Fertility Hub. If you meet the criteria for funding, the fertility assessments and treatment will be at no cost to you.
HSE IVF at Waterstone Clinic
Your treatment package at Waterstone Clinic is all-inclusive:
- Pre-treatment consultation with our fertility specialists
- Electronic Consent forms
- Patient Portal Support
- Management of your plan and prescription issue
- Ultrasound follicle tracking scans
- Egg collection procedure
- IV Sedation for Egg Collection Procedure
- Laboratory Procedures (semen prep, IVF/ICSI procedure, embryo culture, and embryo monitoring)
- Embryo Transfer procedure
- Freezing and storage of embryos
- Early Pregnancy Scans
- Follow-up appointment and review
Funding Criteria
The HSE has particular criteria for eligibility, which can be found directly on the HSE Fertility Website.
The eligibility criteria are very strict, and not everyone will meet them. However, don’t let this stop you from realising your dreams of a family. We offer a range of treatment options and financial packages with our payment partner Humm Finance.
What Happens When I'm Referred?
When your GP refers you to the Fertility Hub, you will have some appointments for fertility assessments. Following these, the team at the Fertility Hub may recommend a treatment plan for you if you meet the criteria.
You can select your preferred private fertility clinic for your treatment. Waterstone Clinic is an approved provider.
Starting Fertility Treatment
Within 6 weeks of your referral, you will have a consultation at Waterstone Clinic to discuss the plan from the Fertility Hub. We will explain all the processes and consent forms in the clinic and let you know what to expect at every stage. We will then make arrangements for you to start your treatment cycle within a few weeks.
Following your treatment, we will arrange your early pregnancy scans.
Which Treatments are HSE Funded?
The Fertility Hubs provide fertility investigations. They will decide which, if any, fertility treatment to offer. They can refer you to Waterstone Clinic for IUI, IVF or ICSI treatment.
The HSE will fund ONE round of IVF or ICSI treatment. If, during your cycle, you create embryos suitable for freezing, the HSE will fund their freezing and storage until you either become pregnant or have used all of your embryos. If you become pregnant and have frozen embryos remaining, the HSE will continue to fund storage for the two years following the birth of your child.
