Frozen Embryo Transfer

FET Treatment

FET Treatment

During an IVF or ICSI cycle, some patients will have embryos they will not use immediately and can freeze them for future use. Your entire family could be made through one round of IVF treatment.

A Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) Cycle is a simple treatment cycle that involves thawing a frozen embryo and transferring it back to the womb. FET cycles are very straightforward and only require a low level of medication and monitoring. There is no ovarian stimulation and no egg collection procedure.

Our team are specialists in vitrification, and over 98% of vitrified embryos survive and are suitable for transfer under our team’s care.

The FET Process
Step by Step

FET treatment is a gentle treatment that assists your natural cycle.

Endometrial Preparation: For this cycle, you will take a low-level medication to prepare your womb lining for the embryo transfer. We will perform some ultrasound scans to monitor your lining.
Embryo Thaw: On the agreed date, the embryologists will remove the embryo from long-term storage, thaw it and prepare it for transfer.
Embryo Transfer: The embryo transfer procedure is carried out by carefully transferring the embryo into the uterus, and two weeks later, you can take a pregnancy test.

How Successful is FET Treatment?

Frozen embryo transfers are very successful. Freezing embryos is a method of fertility preservation as they retain their original chance of success and do not lose quality over time.

Our IVF/ICSI success rates are detailed further on our success rates page.
