Our Scientific Team

Waterstone Clinic has built the most advanced laboratories of their kind in Ireland, and our incredible team of scientists matches our excellent facilities. Our scientific team have medical, research and technical backgrounds, with most holding PhD degrees.

Our laboratory teams are led by Dr Tim Dineen, Dr Xiao Zhang, and Sarah O’Boyle.

 

Our Laboratory Leaders 

 

Dr Tim Dineen, Head of Compliance, Senior Clinical Embryologist  

Dr Tim Dineen is a founding member of Waterstone Clinic and is the Director of Compliance for Waterstone Clinic. Dr Dineen is an ESHRE-certified Senior Clinical Embryologist and manages regulatory compliance, leading our quality team. 

Dr Dineen has specialist training in Genetic Counselling and founded the Pre-implantation Genetic Testing programme at Waterstone Clinic. He also leads the onco-fertility preservation service.

 

 

 

Dr Xiao Zhang, Scientific Director, Laboratory Manager

Dr Zhang is the Scientific Director for Waterstone Clinic and is Laboratory Manager. He is a medical doctor with a PhD in reproductive medicine. His research has been published extensively, and he received an honorary professorship from Zhengzhou University in China. He was the first doctor in China to achieve an assisted pregnancy from frozen eggs, and he introduced the first PGT programme in Cyprus. Dr Zhang leads our research and service development programmes.

 

 

 

Sarah O’Boyle, Laboratory Manager & Senior Embryologist

Sarah O’Boyle is the Laboratory Manager in Waterstone Clinic Dublin. Sarah has a Master of Science from University College London (UCL) in Reproductive Science and Women’s Health. She has over a decade of experience working as an embryologist in UK and Irish fertility clinics. Sarah is a member of the Irish Clinical Embryologist Association (ICE) and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE).
