What is Your Job Title?
Quality, IT & Facilities Support
Where did you study/go to school?
I went to secondary school in St. Patrick’s College in St. Luke’s, after which I completed a Bachelor of Science in Herbal Science from CIT before studying to become a qualified Dental Nurse, which was what I worked as before joining Waterstone Clinic. Last year however I graduated with a Master’s in Public Health from UCC.
Do you have any Hobbies?
I really enjoy being active, whether that is in the gym or outdoors, and have played tag rugby for a number of years now. I also love being creative and can be found conjuring up anything from knitted animal hats to complete costume and prop design & fabrication for conventions, of which I am an avid attendee.
Describe your Job in Five Words:
Detailed, important, varied, interesting, continuous
Describe Yourself in Five Words:
Diligent, happy, creative, unconventional, hard-working
What is needed for this kind of Work?
Attention to detail and a thorough understanding of policies and procedures are requirements for work in the Quality department. Reviews and improvements are continuously carried out so there is always plenty of work to get through. For the IT and Facilities, a lot of flexibility is needed as you never know when a task will pop up and you have to think quickly to solve it.
When did you join the Waterstone Team?
I first joined the team in April 2016 as a Patient Liaison Coordinator, where I gained valuable and wonderful experience. After the completion of my Masters in 2017 I moved to the Quality department as this was a sector I was eager to delve into.
Describe a Typical Day at Work:
My day starts with responding to emails and phone calls. Afterwards, my day can vary greatly from carrying out document control, which involves applying document changes and introducing new documents or policies to our system, to organising fire drills or training courses for our team members. I also often have meetings regarding Quality or IT developments and liaise with all relevant parties about updates and changes.
Do you work in a Team or on your own?
I’m lucky that I get to work on a great team with a lovely group of people.
What are the Best Parts of Your Job?
I love that my job involves all departments and team members so that I have regular contact with everyone in all our clinics, all of the staff here are so friendly and great to work with.
Any Final Thoughts?
Working both ‘front of house’ and ‘behind the scenes’ in the clinic gives you a greater appreciation for the amount of hard work and the number of people that are involved in the care given here at Waterstone Clinic. Every member of staff plays a vital role in the clinic – all working together to help a family become whole.
