Fertility Tests For Women
We know fertility levels decline with age, but fertility is still individual. Having your fertility tested will give you a wealth of information on your hormones and the number of eggs (your “ovarian reserve”) in your ovaries. From here, you can explore your individual fertility timeline, and with the help of our specialists, create a plan of action.

Fertility Testing
Our advanced medical tests are backed with the latest scientific evidence so that you can make informed decisions for your future plans. The main areas under investigation at your consultation are:
- Do you have an average, higher or lower number of eggs for someone your age?
- Are you ovulating?
- Are there any potential obstacles to achieving a pregnancy?
- Are your Fallopian tubes open and normal?

Ovarian Reserve Testing
The ability to conceive is directly related to the number of eggs in the ovaries. The Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) blood test is a reliable detector of ovarian function and reflects the size of the remaining egg supply. Some people will have an average number of eggs for their age, and others will have higher or lower numbers, which can indicate issues such as PCOS or Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI). Your AMH level will also help the clinician to predict how you will respond to fertility treatment and if egg freezing might be an option for you. AMH results must be interpreted alongside a fertility focused ultrasound scan.

Hormone Tests
Hormones play a very important part in the ability to conceive. A wide range of hormones have an impact on fertility health. We recommend patients to test Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Luteinising Hormone (LH), Estradiol (E2), Prolactin, T4, TSH, Rubella and Progesterone. Each hormone has a role to play in fertility and your body must produce a specific amount of each hormone at a precise time in your menstrual cycle in order to achieve a pregnancy. These levels will help the clinician to advise you and create a treatment plan.

Fertility Focused Ultrasound Scan
Paired with your hormone blood results, the ultrasound scan will investigate the health of your ovaries, uterus and pelvis. The specialist will also perform an antral follicle count to confirm the status of your ovarian reserve and complete the picture of your fertility potential.

Additional Testing – Tubal Potency
The specialist may recommend further testing of tubal patency to investigate if there are any obstructions in the Fallopian tubes that would impact your ability to conceive.
Fertility Tests For Men
Male factor infertility is much higher than most people realise. It is often assumed that fertility is a female issue, but fertility issues are as common in men as they are for women. To make an effective and efficient treatment plan, male partners must also have an up to date fertility test. The first step in testing is a semen analysis.

What Does the Semen Analysis Measure?
Some of the parameters that are checked by the andrology team are:
- Concentration: the number of sperm (the “sperm count”)
- Motility: the sperm’s ability to move
- Morphology: The shape of the sperm
